Winners of the Slam Dunk Contest

Yanks310, Cavs GM, Director of All-Star Weekend

This page is a tribute to those who have won the Slam Dunk Contest on previous All- Star Weekends.  We will have the winners, the participants (if available), the scores (if available), and other things concerning the Slam Dunk Contest.

The Slam Dunk Contest has been dominated by one team with them taking the title of Slam Dunk Contest Winner three straight years.  That team is the Houston Rockets with Andrei Kirilenko winning in 2002, and James White winning it in 2003 and 2004.

James White has played for the Rockets his 2 years in the league and brought home two trophies from the Slam Dunk Competition.  James was named to the All- Rookie Second Team in 2003 along with winning the Slam Dunk Contest in 2003 and 2004.  James is an all-around solid player having B- in numerous categories.  James has had almost everything go down between his first year and his second with points dropping from 8.5 ppg to 6.8 ppg.  His assists have also gone down from 4.1 to 2.4.  Three Point Percentage has also taken a dive from 41% to 36%.  One good thing to drop, dropped turnovers per game from 2.7 to 2.0!  James White is now a free agent and a team looking to pickup the two-time defending slam dunk might pick up an all-around solid player.

Andrei Kirilenko started the league off in the hands of the Utah Jazz.  He was then traded to the Rockets.  He remained on the Rockets only for the rest of that year and then skipped off to the Hawks.  Kirilenko played in the All-Star Rookie Game in 2002, was named to the All- Defensive Team in 2002, and obviously won the Slam Dunk Contest in 2002.  Kirilenko's major strength is defense with an A+.  His rebounds have steadily gone up from 5.7, to 6.2, to 7.1 per game.  His three point shooting percentage has increased drastically from 24%, to 31%, to 34%. His points per game has dwindled slightly from 11, to 10.8, to 10.1.  His NBN career average for minutes per game is 34.2!  Kirilenko is now a free agent and some teams could be looking bring him in to be a great defender.  Could he pick up a fourth team on his career or will he stay in Atlanta.
